Wellington Lodge Llamas
Sales and Training

Training Llamas ~ adults only

It is essential to know how to properly care for a llama before making a purchase.

Books are fine up to a point but practical advice from those with many years of experience of working with llamas in the UK is invaluable. The advice we give about llamas is relevant to Great Britain; for example - the British climate, poisonous weeds found in Britain, English law in regard to using working llamas and so on.

We offer on-site training courses for:-

Basic llama husbandry
Basic llama training
Advanced pack llama training

April 2006. After a long delay caused by snow followed by a lot of very wet weather during February and March we at last restarted the training of our younger llamas. The photographs below are of their first major outing, linked to an experienced packer ensured that they were safely under control on the busy road. Once they got over their initial excitement, they behaved impeccably and as you can see from the second photograph, they were so well behaved that our customers on this training day, were happily leading them until we returned to the road and traffic again, a real 'hands on' experience.
Inti 'learning the ropes' Both Inti and Diego quickly settled into trekking with our older, experienced pack llamas
